The Malaysian digitalization effort of its public sector is now truly in the gutters.
The Digital Ministry has abandoned all means of reforming the public sector and defaulting to the usual public-sector-garbo. GovTech is not the Malaysian Government's first rodeo in attempting mordernizing/digitalizing itself, see:
Large-scale projects involving substantial public expenditure as such, inevitably attracts profiteers and oppurtunists. However, similar to past administrations, the current has failed to prevent these damaging acts, even allowing the same actors to work their dealings.
GovTech is just inches away of a MAMPU 3.0/ JDN 2.0, an expensive facade.
The initial team developed a suite of products inspired by GovTech teams around the world. Even though these were not the most revolutionary or ground breaking products, they have been proven to improve the interactions between goverments and its citizens.
